For this project we were asked to create either a book, website, video, or anything that will teach the eighth graders more in depth about the founding documents and philosophers. For this we were helping, Robert McCoy. McCoy is a eighth grade teacher and he is trying to find ways on how to teach the students about different philosopher and also try to keep them entertained while teaching them this content.
For this project we were answering a very important question and that question was; What is the nature of man and how has it influenced the American Government? In order to complete this project we had to examine America's founding documents like; The Declaration of Independence and The Constitution. Also in order to complete this project we also had to research several philosophers and how they influenced the founding documents.
During this project the difficulties that I had were trying to figure out what each Enlightenment philosopher had an influence in the founding documents. Also some content that I needed help with was researching the philosophers views on human nature. To understand the content better I looked up on the computer on what I was looking for and If I couldn't find what I was looking for I would ask my peers for help. When I am looking for something that is important to a project and I can't I go to my peers to ask them to explain the content to me that I do not understand.
My learning outcomes that I grew in were Knowledge and Thinking. I grew in Knowledge and Thinking because before this project I knew little about the enlightenment philosophers and what they had to do in the founding documents of the United States. Another learning outcome that I grew in was Collaboration. I believed that I grew in Collaboration because there is usually a person that you never worked with you have to work together to get the project done. The way I grew in Knowledge and Thinking, was by studying more about each philosopher and what they had in common. In the Collaboration category, I tried to work with each group separately to find their strengths and weaknesses.
After this project I feel like I still need help analyzing the text from the founding documents. When I was analyzing the text I feel like I didn't put enough effort in talking about the part that I was analyzing. I feel like on the literacy task that I didn't put enough effort in answering the driving question and talking about each article.
